One of the most artists starve in the line of Danish pottery is probably Bjorn Wiinblad. It is known worldwide and has enjoyed a career spanning over 60 years. His talents are not limited to pottery and ceramics, however, his art was displayed on the covers of books, glass, and a myriad of other Creative mediums. His artistic creativity in addition to its versatility combined makes it virtually impossible to classify. It is a bit like a jack-of-all-trades within the artistic community and remains very popular.
Danish pottery Wiinblad as Bjorn has many facets. Much of the pottery of Denmark is the thrust of modernist furniture that is created here. The furniture, art, they all form a symbiotic relationship at home and most artists of the region are designing their products to local buyers. Not that they are not welcome tourists, but most provide tourists a one-time purchase. The local public is the bread and butter for these people and they are well aware. It is only logical that their designs reflecting the local culture and the idea that less is indeed sometimes more.
Quirky Danish designer, Bjorn Wiinblad was known as the "designer designer. His work is diverse and encompasses studio art pottery, glass, silver, posters and costumes. He was chief designer of Rosenthal porcelain business for 35 years but many of his early work was produced by the Danish company Nymolle. We only beginning to collect coins Wiinblad pretty much any porcelain / ceramic piece will do as well as the many vintage posters and signed hand prints, especially black and white line-drawn type scenes as shown on the left.
In one of the most talked about installations, Wiinblad in Bjorn's The Gossips he has created another masterpiece of fantasy. The four bronze sculptures smooth girls obviously the middle of the gossip, or just whirling their heads away from him, breathing a swirling motion, a certain arrogance with the figures 'noses' turned high and far apart.
