Does anyone know a good pre-made pie crust, deep dish is made with butter?
We used to use Nancy's Deep dish pie shells for a special pie that we do every year from our Homegrown pears. I can not find them now and even contacted the company to know they were discontinued. We try other crusts, but the secret seems to be that of Nancy were made with butter, and most of those I find now are made with shortening. Any idea would be really useful.
Make your own pie dough, I do …. it's so simple! Use butter flavored Crisco Shortening …. Here is my recipe from my mother. Pie crust: 4 cups flour 1 tablespoon sugar 2 c. tea salt 1 3 / 4 cup Crisco shortening 1 / 2 cup cold water 1 tablespoon vinegar 1 egg Mix flour, sugar and salt in a medium bowl. With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, whisk together water, vinegar and egg. Add the flour mixture until dough comes together. Gently gather dough particles into a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Divide into 4 balls. Slightly sides the ball with flour and roll on a lightly floured board or pastry cloth. Makes two 9-inch double-crust pies. Note: The dough can be refrigerated up to 3 days. It can be frozen until ready to use, thaw until soft enough to roll. ================================ Http://www.cooksrecipes.com/pie/butter_pie_crust_recipe.html Butter Pie Crust Recipes http://www.recipezaar.com/8255 http://www.taunton.com/finecooking/pages/c00119_rec01.asp
