Saucer Magnolia grows not?
We have a saucer magnolia that is roughly the same size as when we planted several years ago. It does not die, all the leaves Look good, but it is not or flowering. Recently we put mulch around it and it rained a lot, but no dice yet. We are in zone 8. Any ideas?
Here is what Magnolias need: location choice: Choose a place where low deep, fleshy roots will not be damaged by digging or soil compaction from foot traffic constant. Magnolias also do not like being crowded! Soil: They like fairly rich, well drained soil, neutral to slightly acid. Mulch: Keep a mulch over the roots cool. Watering: Irrigate deeply and thoroughly, but do not soak the soil or the tree will drown. Fertilizing the trees feeding if the new growth is scanty or low. Use a slow release product such as magnolias are likely to damage the salt. A Saucer magnolia is generally be 3 to 5 years before they bloom. Good Luck!
