I went to visit the Heber Valley for 50 years. Heber is about 14 miles from Park City, Utah. The valley is an oasis of greenery surrounded by mountains and hills. The views of the back side of Mt Timpanogos and the Sun Dance ski resort are incredible. The boundaries of the valley of Deer Creek Reservoir and the reservoir Jordanella. Rivers and streams wind through the valley, with fishermen standing and serene, water flowing attempts to foil a trout.
Main Street Heber has a charming look Mayberry and you roll into town, it looks almost Sherriff Andy Taylor walking on the sidewalk.
The valley has excellent golf, skiing and nearby Deer Valley and Park City Ski Resort. In short, a little corner of paradise.
Yesterday, my wife, Sharon Lovely, and I played recently opened Red Ledges Golf Course. This gem is Nicklaus designed the centerpiece of the Red Ledges project Located a few miles from the main street of Heber. Despite all my visits to Heber, I was more than a little surprised find red rock formations on the golf course.
The course is routed around and through the red rocks, ridges, valleys and hills. It has a rock Southern Utah red think. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Hawks flew above us in the round.
The course is difficult. Some holes are directly down and other straight uphill. The parking of a hole can be no impact on the downhill holes are significantly shorter than the card and the holes climbing are 1 to 2 clubs over the map. There are at least four tee options on every hole so you can imagine what is best for you. The Lovely Sharon, whose disability varies from 3 to 6, has played the tees East and shot a 82 with a couple of stray bullets. I played the member tees and has shot a 88 with a bunch of stray bullets. I felt we both played the tees that we were comfortable.
This course is the guy you play a couple of times to understand where to hit the ball. The practice facility was terrible and there will be a golf school on-site Jim McLean.
Apparently, the project sold many lots, which is great in this economy.
We had a wonderful time on the course and were glad we had the chance to play.
