North Star?
I do not think I really must see it to know where the north because it means a lot to know how that `s north, but where is just north star? How do I find? and is it really point north?, how is it posible if earth rotates on its axis?
The axis of the Earth currently points within one degree of the star Polaris, the brightest star in the constellation Ursa Minor. Precession changes the direction of the axis points in a cycle that takes over 23,000 years to complete, if 5000 A few years ago the axis pointing toward the star Thuban in Draco and 13,000 years will point at Vega. When you face Polaris, you are indeed facing north (unless you are North Pole – then you should look up). best way to find Polaris is to use pointers, two stars (called Merak and Dubhe) at the end the bowl of the Big Dipper to Polaris and how down more or less to Regulus in Leo.
