Jam Jar

Jam Jar

I was about five and my sister, Kate, was fourteen. I was a constant nuisance to her and she had always to conceal his personal affairs, such as books and candy to me. Sometimes I was good enough to track them down and place them elsewhere, to the consternation outmost Kate's course! Our mother used to take my side:

"It is only a baby, do not be evil!" she said to Kate furious.

But Kate was adamant.

"If it still does, I'll fight!"

For tell you the truth, I was a little afraid of her, as she was tall, big and strong, when I was so thin and frail. I dared not cope when her mother was not there. She knew that and she called me a "coward". We were in a constant battle. However, I was not always the winner. There were times when Mom lost her patience with me and just cried

"Hush, do not touch books hear me? "Then I was nice and polite.

But a moment later, I had he chance to discover a new treasure, I forgot all about the many ways and I returned to the kitchen Effects Kate's up.

Sometimes too, Kate was really nice to me. I do not understand why, just as it was assumed. Like the day Mom made most beloved fig jam.

I have forgotten to mention that Kate was an avid food lover, and she had a sweet tooth too. August is the month of ripe figs in Greece. Each Mama year used to purchase a large quantity of figs and is the favorite dessert of the family fig jam.

I was not interested in this jam, jam in any other in the world, but Kate was. It was really a big fan of efforts kitchen mom. She could smell jam freshly prepared and tried to locate the mother closet stored jars.

"Do not you dare touch the jam! Mom warned Kate. "It's for the winter." But she gave him just a little pot for comfort.

"This will do for now! Mom said.

Kate sighed, but she had to obey. The pot is empty and soon Kate has tried to find a way to get a little more.

One morning, while Mom was in the garden, Kate has found what she was looking for: the key to the secret closet where all the pots jam were preserved. She had already opened the closet door and took the lid of a jar when I went in search of Mother. I saw it and was ready to say something, but she whispered:

"Go, now!"

I did not. "What are you doing" I said stupidly, as it was obvious what she was doing!

"Try this jam, you idiot. I'll try to see if the same one that the mother 's me. She said sticking a big spoon in his mouth.

"Mom said you should not touch it, I say.

"Just a little will not harm an ant," said Kate, diving with his spoon in the jar again.

"I tell mom I said, and he was ready to go.

"Wait! she screamed. "Try this!" She forced a spoon in my mouth. "Let's have a secret, okay?" she said.

"I do not like the jams!" I mumbled with my mouth full.

At this moment we heard footsteps. Kate wiped the jam in my mouth, the locked cupboard in a hurry and pushed me behind the green velvet curtains of the living room.

"Stay here and do not speak!" She ordered.

I could not speak anyway with my mouth full of fig jam. I had to swallow first.

"What are you doing there?" Mom's voice sounded strong in my ears.

"I am looking for Lia," Kate said. "Perhaps it is in the garden," she added.

"It is not, "Mom said concerned." Lia! She began to cry.

I had finally managed to swallow the sticky jam and replied:

"I'm here, Mom!" And I left the curtain.

"What are you doing?" Mom asked.

Kate me gave an angry look.

"I'm not hiding," I confessed. "We played hide and seek," said Kate.

Mom watches the two of us and then shook his head.

A few days later, the secret was revealed. It was not my fault. Mom discovered half eaten fig jam and Kate had to admit his crime, or his good deed.

"Leah wanted to jam so I thought you would not mind, "she defended.

Mom was surprised.

"I did not know you liked my fig jam! "I she said. "I am glad you are! It's very healthy and nutritious!

Thus, from this day, I had to eat a slice of bread with fig jam for breakfast. At first I felt sick, but gradually I got used, and Curiously, I began to love. I still do!
