Glass Blue

Glass Blue
What is the purpose of the use of blue glass in the identification of sodium and potassium? (Flame Test)?

I understand why sodium, potassium, but no. The color of potassium without lilac blue glass, no? Is it because both have a high concentration of sodium in it?

Sodium in a flame test should appear bright yellow. When viewed through a blue glass this will look green (blue and yellow = green) of potassium in an essay Flame is a red / purple. When looking through a blue glass, it should be very difficult to see … or not at all! Hopefully this is of little help. Cheers:)
