Have you ever seen a professor in Germany wear blue jeans or black?
My husband, who is an engineer, wears jeans to work. He said most companies in Germany have a relaxed dress code, and it is OK for me to wear jeans to my teaching position. I have pair of black jeans that are comfortable, but wonder if they are appropriate to wear while teaching young children in a private school.
I did my "allowance Abitur university" (which is) in 1986, and at the time, most of my teachers wore black jeans and blue, and even some of my teachers at the university has done. Jeans are still common type of pants worn by men and women in Germany, and is absoultely appropriate for wear when teaching young children. Nothing else can seem to be overdressed, but just to be sure, you should ask the director of the school where you will learn if specific dress codes. If not, jeans, shoes leather shirt and casual jacket are entirely appropriate for a young teacher.
