Algorfa is one of South Blancaâ Costa € ™ s many citrus farming villages located in a country rich and fertile valley Segura. Located between the towns of Rojales and Almoradi, Algorfa has a large administrative area, but only a small village with a population of 2914 (2006). Algorfa is a traditional Spanish village with a rich cultural heritage and its people are warm and welcoming nature.

It seems that institutions were in the region around Algorfa during the Neolithic period (4000 to 2000 BC), some human remains and tools have been discovered by an archaeologist de Orihuela Jesuits in 1903.

The municipality of Algorfa was originally founded in 1328 when Alfonso II granted a privilege that is Algorfa the kingdom of Valencia, the first village of Algorfa that consisted of five families sheltering houses fifteen. This privilege was until withdrawn by Felipe V following the War of Spanish Succession (1701-1714), it was then restored by Charles IV at the request of the Marquis de Algorfa to late 18th century.

The day of Algorfa is a quiet and friendly village, around the village square where many festivals and celebrations take place. Located on the village square are the new Town Hall (built in 2004), church and police station (combined with the Hotel de Ville) and a number of bars and restaurants where visitors and villagers can enjoy a drink and a tasty meal. Even the center of Algorfa is a quiet place where visitors are always given a warm welcome.

Sunshine is the order of the day in Algorfa and its residents can expect to see more than 300 days of it during an average year. Rains are rare and usually limited to the months of cold winter (the months most common for making rain in February and November) and a mean annual temperature around 19 degrees centigrade is normal.

While on a visit to Algorfa you can also see some other attractions in the region â € "is worth a visit are the picturesque 19th neo gothic church (located on the road Benejuzar), the vast gardens of the Palace of Marquis Fontabla Jacarilla near the cave houses at Rojales and the Parque Natural de Las Lagunas La Mata Torrevieja (Parc natural salt lakes).

Algorfa has its own lively market held on Sundays and always worth a trip.

Here below are a variety of sports facilities and leisure activities available in and around Algorfa including La Finca Golf Club â € "with its golf championship Located in a natural setting, the recreational center offering a wide range of equipment and there are some beautiful cycling and hiking. An excellent range of Water sports are popular in the local coastal towns and there is a great Aqua Splash park near Quesada. And La Finca Golf Club, there are several other golf courses near Algorfa, particularly along the Orihuela Costa where there are 3 golf course very close.

There are no beaches of Algorfa, because it is an inland village, but just down the road at Guardamar del Segura you will find miles and miles of excellent beaches sand and some superb facilities for water sports. The surrounding coastline is renowned for its crystalline waters and there are wonderful places for diving and snorkelling.

The motto of Algorfa is â € œâ place to live and enjoy Lifea € â € "to live out its motto, be sure to visit some time soon.

Algorfa lies just off the CV-91 road between Orihuela and the coastal town of Guardamar del Segura. It can also be easily accessible from the N332 coastal road and the motorway AP-7 (exit 740). The nearest airports are Alicante and Murcia (San Javier) Both are about an order of thirty five minutes by car.
