I have an antique Wedgwood brooch stamped 926 or what it represents?

I have a cameo brooch antique Wedgwood 926 gold stamped what it represents? The lady I bought it off said it was 9ct

This could be the purity 1.000 gold is pure gold. Currencies are, 990, 926 would be gold alloyed with something to prevent it from being malable.
