In 1875, 100,000 machines of various types including industrial models were produced. This increased to 200,000 in 1880 and 1930 production totaled nearly 3 million machines. After the First World War 2, the company was renamed VEB Writing & Sewing Machines reflecting that she had been the production of such writers since 1910. So if your function is before 1900 or not – an antique must be at least 100 years according to a rule of thumb.
